Smart Planner Features

Smart Planner is a Campus Solutions 9.0 bolt-on application that generates an individualized study plan based on a student’s major and transcript.

More About Smart Planner

Smart Planner automates the academic planning function at a university. Once implemented, Smart Planner will calculate a unique, optimized academic sequence for each student’s remaining career based on the student’s declared major and transcript to date.

Smart planner provides more planning (remaining career versus the upcoming semester only), more often (new sequences can be generated in seconds) and with more precision (the sequences are generated using our proprietary Smart Planner engine using the most up-to-date information in your system) than manual planning.

Implementing Smart Planner has the unintended but extremely useful additional benefit of capturing future student attendance data which can be used very successfully for better seat demand planning.  Implementing and operating Smart Planner costs only a fraction of the cost of manual planning.  Smart Planner is live at 21 universities.

The Problem

PeopleSoft Academic Advising is great for degree checkout but does not provide an easy way for students to plan for next semester, much less for the years ahead.  Undergrads typically spend 15-30 minutes with their advisors every semester, mainly to determine their upcoming schedules.

The Solution

Smart Planner alleviates advising drudgery so that advisors can focus more on student development and academic success.  Smart Planner saves time for advisors and gives students a tool to own and understand their plan.

Who Will This Benefit?

This tool would benefit any higher education institution going through increased enrollments, higher demand for accountability (retention and graduation rates), and increasing advisor to student ratios.
